Evaluations

We offer comprehensive speech and language evaluations. These evaluations may include a range of diagnostic tools including, but not limited to, formal testing measures (as necessary), interview, observations, language sampling, and play interactions.

A written evaluation report is included, containing treatment recommendations and plans for service approaches.

Our sessions are designed to be meaningful and motivating for the client. Using evidence-based practice, child-led, and play based approaches help to create the most individualistic and functional therapy to meet our long term goal: increasing speech and language skills.

Individualized Therapy Services

  • Does your child have difficulties producing certain speech sounds? Are they difficult to understand? We provide diagnostics and treatment for articulation and phonological disorders. Our individualized treatment approaches will help children:

    • decrease frustrations from not being understood

    • build confidence in speech skills

    • accurately produce age-appropriate speech sounds

    • increase clarity of speech

    Parent participation through home carryover assignments are key to promoting the best outcomes for your child. Our therapists will demonstrate techniques used in session and encourage parents to try them at home!

  • Children who are delayed in expressive and/or receptive language skills will have difficulties comprehending spoken/written language, and/or expressing their needs, thoughts or feelings. This can look like:

    • delay in verbal speech

    • difficulty following directions

    • difficulty asking and answering questions

    • deficits in literacy

    • differences in play skills

    A child-led approach will make therapy motivating and meaningful to the child and ease the generalization of skills.

  • Children with fluency struggles often need support in the flow of their speech. We use both direct and indirect therapy approaches during motivating activities to build confidence and help clients regain control of their speech.

    Fluency therapy will:

    • give the client techniques to improve the flow of speech

    • decrease secondary behaviors

    • decrease negative feelings and attitudes about stuttering

    Education and discussions about fluency are crucial for successful treatment.

  • We are specially trained in working with children who communicate by scripting or using echolalia. We use a child-led approach to create a naturalistic and safe environment for these gestalt language processers. By honoring scripts, acknowledging them as meaningful, and modeling new language we help the child move through the stages of NLA and begin creating original language. Speech therapy will:

    • help children express themselves more clearly

    • make them feel heard and connected

    • help them be more spontaneous and independent communicators

Parent Coaching & Support

  • On a parent coaching call we can discuss anything speech and/or language related. Parent coaching is held 1-2x a month to discuss treatment approaches, assess language samples, coach you on how to support speech and/or language development, discuss progress and/or client difficulties, carryover skills outside of therapy, etc.

    It is strongly recommended that parent coaching is held at least 1x per month, to ensure comprehensive support for all. Please note that this appointment does not involve direct treatment with the client.

At this time, we are authorized as out-of-network providers for Tricare. Even if you do not have Tricare Select, we are still able to serve you and your loved ones! Prior authorization is required from your doctor. A request can be made through your Humana Portal. Depending on your specific policy, this does NOT mean your insurance will not reimburse for services.

We understand! Navigating healthcare and insurance can be overwhelming and stressful. But before you decide to find an in-network provider, consider these points:

  • Even if there is no waitlist, authorization and approvals can take weeks before the first day of session can begin. That is a lot of missed treatment time and potential regression in developmental skills.

  • Specialized services are often overlooked by insurance companies, leaving clients to receive less than optimal care for their diagnoses. Our goal is to provide the highest standards of integrity and ethical principles to our clients, which can be compromised with insurance limitations.

  • Connection is the foundation of therapy. Progress flourishes with strong client-therapist relationships. Your loved one may have built a connection with a provider who is not in-network. The decision to re-establish connections is a challenging one.
